The 411 on Lip Filler Treatments

It’s time to talk lips! My industry as a whole has seen an increase in clients requesting lip filler treatments in recent years. Thanks to social media and pop culture icons with luscious lips, we are seeing younger and younger clients coming in. But I also get the pleasure of treating older clients as they gain more comfort with the products available.

Juvéderm Volbella is just one great lip filler option we offer, and my clients love the benefits this product provides. Not only is it fun to experience a fresh new look, but the results are beautiful. Lips are a passion of mine, so here is everything you need to know about the lip filler treatments we provide.

What are lip filler treatments?

The dermal fillers we use are made from a gel created with hyaluronic acid. The sugar-based molecules of this gel naturally occur within our body and serve as part of our skin’s support structure.

Along with collagen, hyaluronic acid is essential to healthy skin. It keeps skin hydrated by attracting water molecules, acting as a natural shock absorber, and promoting the production of collagen. Unfortunately, as we get older, our skin loses hyaluronic acid. This causes skin to have more folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth as it becomes dehydrated, thin, and loose.

The use of collagen injections was once the norm to counter the effects of aging. But with the many advantages of hyaluronic acid-based lip fillers, aesthetic professionals, including those in our own clinic, are starting to use this option more regularly. Some of the benefits of these products that we love include:

Safer than collagen injections
Do not require a skin test before injections
Synthetic, non-animal based
Last longer than collagen injections
Fewer side effects
Replace lost volume
Bring back shape, suppleness, and firmness to sagging lips
Smooth wrinkles around the mouth and nose
Shape and lift cheeks
Reduce abnormalities and noticeable scars
Best of all, no matter what age you are, the results are instant and beautiful. But what should you know before experiencing these treatments? Here are some tips if you decide to indulge in dermal fillers.

First things first … go to an experienced injector.

Most fillers are reversible, including Juvéderm Volbella dermal fillers, but that doesn’t mean you want to have to reverse the procedure because of inexperience. Your results should be great lips every time. When you visit a professional who understands this product, you will get the look you are going for, whether it’s voluptuous lips or a modest lip line treatment.

What dermal filler options do we provide?
Before your procedure, the clinician will discuss some of the lip filler treatment options we have available. Each has its own distinct characteristics and longevity. So, it’s important that we know exactly what you are trying to achieve.

Robust Treatment: Juvéderm Ultra Plus or Vollure
Conservative Treatment: Juvéderm Ultra or Volbella
Another consideration is your personal budget for lip fillers. We love all our products, and costs can range from $425 to $725 per syringe. Although most treatments can be accomplished using one syringe, more may be required if you desire fuller lips.

What should you expect when you come for a lip filler treatment?

When you come to Aesthetic Center of Murfreesboro for a lip filler treatment, we want to ensure you are as comfortable and prepared as possible. I think everyone is nervous before their first treatment. After all, you may have read horror stories or seen someone with “those” lips.

When you come, we love on you and greet you as a close personal friend. Then it’s time to get started with the process:

You will fill out a little bit of paperwork.
We apply a numbing cream ahead of your treatment.
The injector comes in and discusses various treatment options.
You choose the product you desire.
After you’ve been numbed for about 15 minutes, it’s time to begin.
The actual injection may cause some slight discomfort, but most clients find that it’s well tolerated.
Filler is strategically placed along the lip border, in the lip lines, and, if needed, in the body or pillows of the lip to gain the desired effects.
The entire treatment takes less than 15 minutes, and the results are immediate. It’s why we love these lip filler treatments so much.

What can you expect after your treatment?

Dermal filler treatments can cause some slight discomfort, but you can rest assured that you are in good hands. Our goal is to give you beautiful, amazing lips that you will love.

Slight swelling or bruising is possible after your treatment. However, the swelling is typically not significant, and if a bruise occurs, it usually takes less than a week to resolve. We send you home with an ice pack as well as instructions for superb results. You will need to take it easy and refrain from applying makeup to your lips the day of your treatment — totally worth it to get the lovely results you came for.

After that first day of recovery, it’s time to go shopping, because you’ll need to stock up on new lipstick or lip gloss to highlight those amazing lips.

Depending on which product you choose, your treatment can last up to 18 months.
